Historic Restoration, 3001 Washington Road

Description

Creative solutions are a must when it comes to historic restoration. With this beautiful home, we were able to do just that – preserve a historic gem while incorporating state-of-the-art technologies.

Outside, many of the original features were salvaged – from the dramatic spiral columns to the pecky cypress soffits and outlookers. Inside, we took special care and successfully preserved the main staircase and cast iron railing, as well as the original foyer fireplace.

In any restoration, reconstructing while preserving the structure is challenging. We shored and reconstructed bearing walls and floors in order to preserve and recreate the home’s original grandeur. Our goal was to preserve original features where possible and seamlessly integrate new elements, such as a wood coffered ceiling in the living room, hardwood flooring, Moroccan tile, terra cotta tile with patina finish, granite and stone counter tops, tile mosaics, wrought aluminum Juliette balconies, and advanced electronics. The result: a historic home that is ready for another beautiful century.
